The Wave, 12" x 24"   $425

I've been into art since childhood, when I took art classes with Mr. Vincenti in his converted potato shed on Saturday mornings. I moved to Maine in 1972, married Scott, and raised 3 nearly perfect children, who are off making their own contributions to the world. Since 1993, I've had study opportunities with local painters Ronal Parlin, Stan Keirstead, Marni Lawson, and Mardy Bogar, otherwise I observe and am self taught.

I favor landscapes and seascapes, and the winter season inspired by beloved Maine. My travels take me south and west lately, and this March I visited Death Valley in a hundred year bloom, which will surely be seen in paintings to come. Alternating between watercolor and acrylics, I'm experimenting with oils. I like to carry a leather bound journal, a gift from my brother, and tiny watercolor palette to paint my impressions as I travel.

Great sources of interest and inspiration have been  periodic art days at KC's Creativitycenter in Carrabassett, where artists take turns leading the activity of the day, and spend all day doing it. Emily's Salon, a weekly art group is a vital resource, and recently deceased Susan Pomeroy's evocative works in acrylic and watercolor helped make a shift in my direction. I am doing some works strictly from the "gut", to find out later that they were "saying" something, almost as dreams may do. An example is the acrylic and collage "Grandchild Coming", which didn't make sense until grand baby Stella was born in March, and I held her in my arms.

I teach classes in watercolor and acrylic in the home studio.  I serve on the board of Upcountry Artists, and paint ceramics with Mardy Bogar Designs which are sold through the Sugarwood Gallery in Farmington. Currently my work is exhibited at The Loft Gallery in Waterville, and at Hattie's in Kingfield.
