Maine Craft Weekend at The Canaan Farmer's Hall
October 13th and 14th, 2018 - 10am to 4PM
296 Main St (Rte 2)
October 13th and 14th, 2018
Art is ALIVE in northern Maine!
Join us for a group show featuring a roster of artists and artisans who live and work in northern rural Maine. We are not coastal artists; we are rural artists/artisans!!! And we are proud of that fact.
Visit our Maine Craft Weekend hub for northern Maine artists who want to participate in the Maine Crafts Weekend event, but are far apart geographically and thus attract fewer visitors to home studios. By banding together we create a greater presence and attract more attention for our unique and wonderful local artists and craftsmen-and-women.
Canaan Farmers Hall (formerly Canaan Grange) in Canaan, 296 Main St, Canaan, ME on October 13 and 14th, in conjunction with Maine Crafts Weekend.
Canaan Farmers Hall is a huge old grange hall with two floors. A food booth and restrooms will be available throughout both days.
Featured Artist: Hugh Verrier
Hugh, 87, combines both arts into the creation of birds by forming very heavy French paper into wings, beaks and elegant bodies, then bringing them to life with watercolors. The fish are carefully crafted to mimic the actual catch of fishermen friends. The results are paintings that are life-like, light-weight, and archival.
Friday the 12th with Canaan Elementary student featured at the art show Saturday and Sunday.
Artist Demonstrations All Weekend: basket weaving, pastel painting, wire sculpture, wood carving, beadworking, paper sculpture and more.
