Free Children's Art Workshops Homecoming Weekend

In conjunction with the UpCountry Artists Sugarloaf Homecoming Art Show there will be a series of free art-for-kids workshops Saturday October 12th and Sunday October 13, 2019.



Workshops will be held upstairs in rentals at the Sugarloaf Base Lodge and are limited to 15 children per session, first come first serve.


Workshops are 1.5-2 hrs in length, and parents are invited to drop their child off and head to the Sugarloaf Art Show to check out the amazing work of over 50 Maine artists.


Workshops are led by artists Saskia Reinholt and Anne Poirier-Flight (also an art teacher), and sponsored by the members of UpCountry Artists.


Saturday October 12th

10:00am-12:00pm: Open Creativity Studio

Bring your imagination, this open studio is intended for children ages 5 and up. Artists will have the opportunity to rotate through various stations, creating amazing and unique artwork along the way. Open studio format; come by anytime between 10am and noon.


1:00-3:00pm : Painting Workshop

Weather dependent, we will be outside doing an “En Plein Air” painting of one of the most iconic mountains on the east coast, Sugarloaf. This workshop is intended for children ages 8 and up.


3:00pm- 4:30pm: Card Making

With so many special days and reasons to celebrate, there is always an occasion to give a card. Come to this workshop and stamp, cut and paste away; creating one of a kind hand made cards just in time for the holiday season. This workshop is intended for children ages 8 and up.


Sunday October 13th

10:00am-12:00pm: Open Creativity Studio

Bring your imagination, this open studio is intended for children ages 5 and up. Artists will have the opportunity to rotate through various stations, creating amazing and unique artwork along the way. Open studio format; come by anytime between 10am and noon.


1:00pm - 3:00pm: Working with Leather

With a few simple tools, artists will have the opportunity to design and create a unique leather pouch or case. This workshop involves the use of sharp tools and is open to children ages 8 and up.
