Carrabassett Valley Jewelry
Liz Stefany
Liz Stefany first learned the art of silversmithing at age 12 attending Camp Wohelo in Raymond, ME. She moved to Carrabassett Valley to become a ski instructor for year and decided to stay. Carrabassett Valley Jewelry was established in 2006, and Liz still works for Sugarloaf as an alpine, telemark, and cross country ski instructor. Over time her work has evolved to include gold and platinum, and mixing the different colored metals is a hallmark of her design process.
Carrabassett Valley Jewelry is handcrafted using precious metals and natural gemstones to create pieces of art that are easy to wear, feel good to hold, and remind the wearer of adventures, the outdoors, and places that hold special meaning. Each piece is fabricated using traditional jewelry-making techniques and tools that bring the raw sheet and wire into form. Liz relies heavily on her jewelers saw to cut out each design by hand and her hammers and torch are the supporting act to add shape and textures, settings for stones, and accent metals of different colors.
There are many design collections that won't appear at shows or in stores, but they are all available on a made-to-order basis at cvjewelry.com. Liz also takes on a wide variety of custom orders, and the final products and behind-the-scenes footage can be found at facebook.com/cvjewelry or instagram.com/c.v.jewelry. Engagement and wedding jewelry are among her favorite projects, and she considers it the greatest honor to be involved in making such meaningful jewelry.
