A Great Community of Artists
UpCountry Artists was organized by a small but energetic group of artists over 30 years ago. Our mission continues to be to encourage, support and develop visual literacy, the performing arts, artists and public art awareness, primarily through education, in central and western Maine.
Currently based in Kingfield, Maine, UCA raises scholarship money for local high school students who want to pursue a career in the arts.
Our primary source of scholarship money comes from member donations generated by sales made at our popular annual juried Sugarloaf Art Show and through a raffle also held during the art show.
We hope you will consider joining this dynamic organization and look forward to working with you and for you, to bring greater awareness to the talented artists in this under-served part of Maine.
Scholarships
Upcountry Artists awards 2 scholarships annually to local high school graduates and Maine university art students studying art or a related field.
Applicants must present a portfolio of their artwork, a written statement of what art means to them, and proof of acceptance at a college/school of art, as well as a recommendation from their art teacher.
Applications are judged by a committee of UCA artists.
